20 power units of the Ukrainian thermal power plants were damaged by the Russian missile attacks

Almost 20 power units of the Ukrainian thermal power plants were damaged due to the constant Russian missile attacks, and given the occupation of part of the capacities, Ukraine lost three quarters of the TPP’s capacity.

This was stated by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal at a government meeting on Friday, as quoted by “Ukrinform”.

“Today, Russian terrorists again carried out a massive missile attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. In total, almost 20 power units of thermal power plants remain damaged due to the constant attacks. If we add to this the occupation of part of our energy facilities, then Ukraine temporarily lost 44% of nuclear production , 75% of the capacity of thermal power plants and 33% of block thermal power plants. One of two Ukrenergo substations was attacked in the past four months,” he said.

According to Schmigal, despite this terror, most Ukrainians have water and electricity. Repairs are ongoing, there are enough resources to see us through the winter, generators are arriving, and power equipment from partners is on the way.

From the early hours of the day Russia launched its massive missile attack. As a result, power facilities were again affected. At 5 p.m., an air alert was again declared in all regions of Ukraine after several MiG-31 fighters with Kalibr missiles took off from Belarus.

The Russian attack once again targeted Ukrainian energy facilities. Thermal energy production facilities, plumbing infrastructure, as well as high voltage infrastructure in six regions are affected, Energy Minister German Galushchenko announced.

Emergency stops were implemented in many regions. The situation was worst in Zaporozhye, Kharkiv and Khmelnytskyi regions. At the same time, the minister noted that technical measures have been taken and the integrity of the Ukrainian energy system has been preserved. According to him, the power sector is working non-stop to restore power supply.
