Menggala (Lampost.co) — The Tulangbawang District Health Office noted that there were 20 cases of the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the last two weeks. Most cases are in the area of the center of the local government.
“Of the 20 cases, 15 are in Menggala District,” said the Head of the Tulangbawang Regency Health Service, Fhatoni, when contacted by Lambost.co, Friday, December 17, 2021.
He admitted, of the 20 cases found, one patient who was treated died. However, until now it has not been ascertained whether he died from DHF because an Epidemiological Investigation (PE) is being carried out.
“There was someone who died yesterday, but it can’t be said that it was DHF. PE is ongoing because it is still waiting for a definite diagnosis process. Because the patient has been sick for a long time and there are comorbidities,” he said.
During the rainy season, people are asked to be vigilant and keep the environment clean. The disease caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, he said, does not only target children but also adults.
Fhatoni explained, there are four stages of mosquito development before they die at the age of two weeks. Starting from larvae, larvae or larvae, pupae, then becoming mosquitoes.
Age 0 to 7 days mosquito larvae metamorphose into adult mosquitoes. Age 8 to 10 days of adult mosquitoes bite humans. Then, at the age of 11 to 14 days, the adult mosquito looks for a mate, nests, and lays eggs and then dies.
He said the effective way that the community could do to prevent dengue was to carry out the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN) through 3 M, namely draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used goods.
“Fogging is less effective in breaking the chain of DHF spread, because it only kills adult mosquitoes. Meanwhile, mosquito eggs and larvae will not be touched by fogging smoke and will become adult mosquitoes that transmit DHF,” he said.
