Books will be sold at the NDK fair with a 20% discount, the organizers of the exhibition informed.
The lower price is a special kind of protest against the disagreement over the 20% VAT rate on books in Bulgaria, the organizers also explain. Over 70 Bulgarian publishing houses will present their books at the traditional spring book bazaar in the National Palace of Culture. The opening of the exhibition began at 11 o’clock. The fair at the NDK will last until May 24 and is under the motto “Buy books like Europeans”. The entrance fee will be 1 BGN, and for schoolchildren, students and pensioners the entrance will be free. Host of the general assembly of the Federation of European Book Publishers within the framework of the fair is “Bulgarian Book” Association. 32 delegates from 19 European countries will participate in the meeting.
