20 minutes – You can see it all on Disney +

Disney’s streaming service will also go online in Switzerland on March 24th. At CHF 9.90 per month or CHF 99 per year, the offer is much cheaper than Netflix. What is there to see for the money?

45 exclusive originals will be released worldwide within the first year. As Disney announced on request, it will not be known until the end of February what is actually to be seen in Switzerland. In principle, the vast majority of content from the USA should also be available in Switzerland.

But: “Due to existing license agreements, there may be small differences in content in the different European countries,” says Disney.

Last but not least, Disney grew up with children’s films. The provider is also expanding content for young viewers: there is a follow-up meta series with ten episodes of the hit film “High School Musical”.

Or “Diary of a Future President”, which, according to its own description, puts the focus of a family story on an “intrepid 12-year-old with strong opinions”. This new production also starts with ten episodes.

The two youth series and “The Mandalorian” are the first three in-house productions that should also be available from the start.

With the acquisition of Lucasfilm, Disney has held the rights to all “Star Wars” productions for over two billion Swiss francs since 2009. With the spin-off “The Mandalorian”, which was directed by director Jon Favreau (“The Lion King”, “Avengers”), the streaming service opens a new story line.

Further productions are planned: Two series will be dedicated to the stories of the «Star Wars» characters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor. The animation series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will also be released in February.

The entire Marvel universe was also housed at Disney in 2009. There is no new series on offer at the start of March – but numerous have already been announced: “WandaVision”, “Loki”, “Moon Knight” and “Hawkeye”. With «Ms. Marvel »and« She-Hulk », two superheroines get their own Origin stories. Most Marvel productions are scheduled for 2021.

Six documentary series went online for the launch in the USA. These include the “Marvel’s Hero Project”, which portrays ten people who work for the community in everyday life – and who receive their own Marvel comic for this.

In “The World According to Jeff Goldblum”, the Hollywood star does things that we all love: from ice cream to velos. “Pick of the Litter” shows how guide dogs are trained from an early age.

Nature docs are also being planned: Disney is working with National Geographic for this. For example, “Magic of the Animal Kingdom” has been announced for 2020.

The new offering also includes seven short series consisting of episodes that last a maximum of twelve minutes. This is how Forky gets its own series from “Toy Story 4”. Or in “Pixar in Real Life” replicas of well-known Pixar animation characters are released on people.

Disney holds the rights to numerous world-famous franchises and makes them exclusively accessible to its users. Over 500 films and around 7000 series episodes should be available on the platform at launch.

The entertainment giant has pulled all Walt Disney productions off other platforms. These include popular classics such as “The Lion King”, “Snow White” or “Pinocchio” and cartoon hits such as “Toy Story” or “Frozen”.

“The Simpsons” is now at Disney’s home, with all 30 seasons. «Avatar» can now also be streamed exclusively at Disney +.
