Sporty, active and adventurous – the Danish Crown Prince Frederik makes no secret of his enthusiasm for sports. In his home country, however, this behavior causes criticism. Jakobsen has good reason for this: The 51-year-old prince has been injured very often in recent years. It was only last winter that he injured his cruciate ligament, also in a skiing accident. The year before, Frederik had to undergo surgery on the intervertebral disc after falling down a flight of stairs. And before that, the prince broke a cervical vertebra and fibula during sports activities.
A prince with pepper in the back
«The Crown Prince should be more careful with himself. After all, he’s a 51-year-old man, ”says Søren Jakobsen to the Danish newspaper “BT”, The recent injury in Verbier is “fortunately not bad and he will continue to be able to carry out his royal duties,” said the expert. Nevertheless, the Crown Prince had to interrupt his family vacation in Switzerland in order to be brought to Copenhagen, where he was finally operated on on the left shoulder.
“He shouldn’t forget that the country can’t use a broken crown prince when it’s time to take over for his mother,” says Jakobsen. The expert expects Crown Prince Frederik to inherit the role of Queen of Margrethe II at the age of around 60, unless his mother dies before that. “So it can’t be repaired all the time until then,” Jakobsen says.
The Danish queen will probably not be able to force her son to reduce his leisure activities, the expert continues. «This attitude must have come from Frederik himself. Every now and then, however, he will be thrilled by adventure, ”believes Jakobsen. “It’s part of his character, he has pepper in the back.
