Marriage for Iman Mohamed Mutumba did not last long: two weeks after the wedding in the Kayunga district of Uganda, the Muslim cleric discovered that his wife was actually a man.

The aunt accepted the dowry
The imam told another clergyman that he had never seen his wife naked. A chaplain at the Imam’s mosque said she refused to take her clothes off before bed. The husband sought advice from him after still not having sex with his wife two weeks after the marriage. “I waited patiently to finally be able to sleep with her,” said the husband. His “wife” had also stated that they had long periods.
The groom is said to have even paid a dowry to the bride’s aunt. Two goats, two packets of sugar, clothes and a Koran. The aunt does not want to have known that her niece is a nephew. She only got to know the young man as an alleged woman in adulthood, she explained.
Imam is mocked
In the meantime the imam has been released from his service at the mosque, the fraudster Richard Tumushabe is accused of an “unnatural” offense.
Imam Mutumba is now the target of ridicule and malice. He is insulted on social media as a supposed homosexual. In Uganda, homosexuality is punishable.
