The 49th winter meeting of historical motorcycles at Schloss Augustusburg in Saxony last weekend remains inglorious memory because of a tasteless incident. At the biker meeting, which attracts several thousand visitors, a motorcyclist drives up with a passenger dressed as Adolf Hitler in the pillion – and parks next to a police car. The appearance, which was filmed by viewers, could entail legal consequences – for the double and the police officers.
The photos show how the duo pulls up in the olive-green military team. Laughter can be heard, one finds the performance “Hammer”. Then the BMW team is parked backwards next to a police car. The man in the pillion looks astonishingly like the dictator, the driver wears a steel helmet and a uniform from the Wehrmacht period. The policeman on the steering wheel of the car seems amused by the appearance; he also records the scene with a cell phone – a probable mistake by the official.
“Intervention would have been correct”
After the video and the outrage related to it got around on social media, the social media team of the Saxon police also reacted. The behavior of the colleague is not acceptable, it tweeted. “It would only have been correct to intervene and prevent the scenery,” it continues. In another announcement, a police spokesman said: “We would have expected the colleague to have prevented this without any ifs and buts. There are no two opinions on this. »

According to the police, the State Protection Department of the Chemnitz Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case. The man, who appeared as a Hitler double, suspected the use of signs of unconstitutional organizations or sedition. A police spokesman said that when such an appearance disguised as Adolf Hitler was always required, a detailed individual check was required. The legal consequences for officials are now being examined.
This was also demanded by the regional newspaper “Freie Presse”: bikers in uniform and with Wehrmacht machines already existed at the meeting in Augustusburg Castle, she writes, but this appearance should have consequences.
“Behavior is not acceptable”
According to the mayor of Augustusburg, Dirk Neubauer from the SPD, he noticed several participants in the meeting in uniform, which he didn’t like. “But unfortunately there was no legal remedy against it,” because no anti-constitutional symbols were shown, said Neubauer. Only the organizer would have had the opportunity to enforce his house rights and to expel the participants in the area.
The staff of the organizer of the winter meeting did not notice the team, it said in the press release, which was sent out on Monday afternoon. If the man had noticed the security personnel at the entrance, they would have exercised their house right and emphatically and unequivocally asked the man to leave the premises. How he passed the security staff at the entrance is no longer comprehensible, it is said.
Mayor Neubauer condemned the appearance of the “Eterngestrigen” by video message.
Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer from the CDU also responded twitteringly: “The appearance as a mass murderer is more than tasteless.” He agreed with Mayor Neubauer that they would like the 50th biker meeting next year. “It must be clear beforehand that such behavior is not acceptable and will not be repeated,” he wrote.
