Radolfzell / Constance. How important is the daycare center in an educational biography? And what does tomorrow’s school look like? The parent councils of the daycare centers and schools in Constance and Radolfzell approached the Landtag candidates of the constituency of Constance-Radolfzell with these and other educational policy questions. Of the 12 candidates, 11 took the opportunity and answered critical questions about parenting in 20-minute individual interviews.
The answers were not only influenced by party politics, but also reflect the personal attitudes of the candidates. To begin with, they asked about the wishes for daycare and school children and which educational policy topic the candidates would take on first if they were to be elected to the state parliament.
In the next round, everyone had to ask the same four key questions. The focus here was on ideas and options for eliminating the shortage of skilled workers in daycare centers, special features in school policy and the topic of digitization in schools after Corona. The candidates were also available to answer questions specific to their election program – such as the mandatory elementary school recommendation (CDU, FDP) or why the Greens have not yet fought for the Ministry of Education.
Those who still had time were confronted with randomly chosen questions from parenting. While some tried to distinguish themselves by answering as many questions as possible, others put a comprehensive justification of their own positions in the foreground. Education and school policy in particular reveal clear differences between the parties.

“We are very pleased that many candidates took part in our question and answer session. It shows that education policy is important to you, “sums up Johanna Vogt, chairwoman of the GEB school in Konstanz.
“It was worth inviting candidates from all parties: We heard a lot of good ideas and met interesting people. It is our wish that the state parliament struggles for the best educational policy concepts and that these prevail. That would be a big win. “, Sarah Seidel from the GEB Kita in Konstanz sums up.
“The corona pandemic has clearly shown that education policy urgently needs to be updated. We hope to set the focus with our question and answer session and to bring education policy to the consciousness of the voters in the constituency! “, Says Antje Groll, chairwoman of the GEB school in Radolfzell.
“Our children are the society of tomorrow and I hope that this will also be reflected in national politics. The different opinions of the candidates show that this discussion has not yet been brought to an end, “concludes Julia Birster, chairwoman of the GEB Kita Radolfzell.
