20 minutes – Celine’s tormentor has to work 4 days as punishment

Emotional moments in front of the Dietikon district building, where the Celine case is negotiated on Wednesday afternoon. Parents and friends meet and hug, four friends of Celine between the ages of 18 and 20 hold a vigil. “We were her closest friends and still miss her positive charisma and laughter – she left a gap,” they say to 20 minutes. They hope that the court case will result in a fair punishment for the accused to learn from it. “We also hope that the case has an impact in public and that cyberbullying is recognized as a serious problem.”

The trial before the juvenile court then started at 1.30 p.m. – closed to the public. Only approved journalists may take part in the pleadings by the youth lawyer and the defense lawyer. The reason: the accused is a 17-year-old adolescent from Dietikon. He is accused of coercion in connection with the Céline cyberbullying case and is accompanied by his parents. The 13-year-old girl from Spreitenbach had killed herself in the family’s apartment in August 2018 after being massively bullied by the then 15-year-old ex-boyfriend and his jealous ex-girlfriend (16).

Youth lawyer demands a performance of 7 days

The youth lawyer had found the 17-year-old guilty of coercion and pornography – he had sent Celine about 20 photos of his penis – and was sentenced to a short job. The parents of Celine raised an objection, demanding a conviction for sexual assault and a tougher punishment.

This juvenile lawyer again asked for coercion and pornography on Wednesday afternoon. The court should order personal attention and sentence him to a performance of 7 days – including 3 days. According to the youth lawyer, there is no sexual coercion. They were erotic and non-pornographic photos. The accused did not ask Celine to send nude photos, nor did she request sexual acts.

“The accused shamelessly used Celine”

Celine’s parents’ lawyer, however, requested a conviction for sexual assault. “The accused requested photographic material with sexual content,” says the lawyer. «Body contact is not absolutely necessary if you are sexually assaulted.» He also asked for 5000 francs of satisfaction for Celine’s parents. The parents of the adolescent should pay this.

According to the lawyer, the two teenagers had an on-off relationship in which the main point was with Celine. “It was a vicious cycle that Celine couldn’t get out of.” The accused shamelessly used them. During the lawyer’s descriptions, Celine’s mother kept bursting into tears in the courtroom.

“A stab in the heart”

The situation escalated when the boy asked the girl to give him oral satisfaction at home, which Celine refused and what made him angry. “Then he followed through on the threat and sent an erotic picture of Celine to his ex-girlfriend.” The latter published the photo in her Snapchat story for around an hour before deleting it again.

This serious abuse of trust and the fear that he could send more pictures of her drove Celine to suicide. “This threat and the publication of the photo was like a stab in the heart,” said the parents’ lawyer.

The Dietikon juvenile court followed the arguments of the juvenile lawyer and sentenced the 17-year-old to seven days’ work due to coercion and multiple pornography. He has to work four days. The remaining three are only due if he can get something new within six months. To this end, the court ordered “personal care” from a social worker.
