20 chickens and a goat died in a fire in Ventspils region

As the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) informs, on Saturday at 8:11 a.m. firefighters received a call to Piltenes Parish, where a one-story brick barn with an area of ​​400 square meters (m2) was on fire. In one of the rooms there was a barn where 20 chickens and a goat were kept. These creatures perished in the fire. At 1:46 p.m., the fire accident was eliminated.

At 11:48 a.m., firefighters and rescuers received a call to Vānes Street in Liepāja, where household goods on an area of ​​20 m2 were burning in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story residential building. One victim was rescued from the burning apartment, who was handed over to the Emergency Medical Service by the firefighters. Another person was saved using a rescue mask. A total of 30 people were evacuated from the building. At 1:31 p.m., the fire was extinguished.

TVNET already reported that on Saturday at 17.12 VUGD received a call to Stopiņi Parish of Ropaži County, where, according to preliminary information, an extension of a residential house was burning with an open flame. In a short time, the fire had already taken over the residential house. Extensive forces were involved in the extinguishing work – more than 20 firefighters and rescuers with six tanker trucks and a water carrier. The roof of a one-story residential house with an area of ​​300 m2 and a barn with an area of ​​7 m2 burned down. One person was injured in the fire. At 22:38 the fire was extinguished.

In the past 24 hours, from Saturday at 6:30 a.m. to Sunday at 6:30 a.m., VUGD received a total of 42 calls – 13 for firefighting, 23 for rescue work, but six calls turned out to be misleading, according to the statistics compiled by the service.
