(ANSA) – AREZZO, 08 NOV – 20 children were born in 24 hours at the San Donato hospital in Arezzo, a record number of births – all spontaneous – reported by the South East Tuscany Local Health Authority. The children were born between the 5th and on November 6, none by cesarean section. Among the babies born there are also two male twins, children of a 19-year-old woman giving birth for the first time. The children and their mothers, the ASL always reports, are well and will return to their homes within a few days. “They were two intense days for our staff – explains Ciro Sommella, director of Uoc Obstetrics and Gynecology – but they gave us a lot of satisfaction. It had never happened in recent years that we had to witness the birth of 20 children in just over 24 hours. My thanks go to the doctors, midwives, social health workers and nurses for the work done and the commitment made to guarantee the most complete assistance to women giving birth and newborns at such an important moment. Their support is essential.” “These births represent an important moment – continues Sommella – and are a good omen for the recovery of the birth rate which, in Italy and Tuscany, is in sharp decline. Here in Arezzo the number of births records an increase compared to the same period last year year and we can only be satisfied with this.” In 2023, there were 1,448 births at the San Donato hospital in Arezzo. Growing trend for 2024 where so far 40 more births have been recorded compared to the same period a year ago. (HANDLE).
