Netflix officially announced the postponement of the release of two new projects, both dramas and films starring actors Yoo Ah In.
Quoting from Soompi on Monday (27/3/2023), a representative from Netflix said that projects such as ‘The Match’ and ‘Goodbye Earth’ starring actor Yoo Ah In would postpone their release for an undetermined time.
“After going through a number of discussions with the production team, we have decided to temporarily postpone the release of ‘Goodbye Earth’. We will provide information about the next release date once confirmed,” Netflix said.
They continued, “We are also having discussions regarding the film ‘The Match’ with the production house ACEMAKER and other related parties. We have decided to temporarily postpone its release.”
Meanwhile, ‘Goodbye Earth’ is a drama that tells the story of four individuals who survive to get through a chaotic situation. They have about 200 days left before the earth will collide with an asteroid.
While the film ‘The Match’ is a film that tells the story of the player ‘Go’. The film also stars actor Lee Byung Hun.
The two projects above have completed filming, and their release dates are currently in discussion.
Previously, Yoo Ah In had stepped down from the ‘Hellbound 2’ project before filming began, and actor Kim Sung Cheol was confirmed to replace his role as the character Jung Jin Su, who Yoo Ah In played in the first season.
In February, the police began investigating actor Yoo Ah In, regarding the illegal use of propofol. The actor also tested positive for marijuana, ketamine and cocaine.
According to the Crime Investigation Unit Drugs Seoul Metropolitan Police, Yoo Ah In was summoned by the police today on March 27, 2023.
Responding to the postponement of the release of Yoo Ah In’s two newest projects due to his involvement in drug use cases, fans hope that Netflix will still release these two projects as the last project or as a memento from the actor.
However, not a few parties criticized Yoo Ah In and said that the actor harmed many parties because of his actions.
