Two tourists drowned in Situ Gunung, Regency Sukabumi. The two victims are known as Nandi Supriatna (21) and Bhentar Hutanagara (28).
Chief of Police Sukabumi Kota AKBP SY Zainal Abidin said Nandi died in hospital after receiving treatment. Meanwhile, Bhentar was found dead by drowning and was found around 3 hours after the incident.
“We conducted a search at 3pm WIB. Alhamdulillah, an hour and a half search of BH’s brother (Bhentar) was found and he is currently being taken to hospital for medical treatment,” Zainal said quoted by detikJabar on Sunday ( 1/1/2023).
Zainal said the victims were employees of a restaurant in Sukabumi city. It is said that they are planning a family reunion and are traveling to Situ Gunung for the 2023 New Year holiday.
“They played ball in the morning, because their bodies were dirty, they took the initiative to get on a boat to the lake with the intention of cleaning themselves,” she said.
After the event, one of the victims i.e. Nandi jumped into the lake. Since she could not swim, Nandi eventually drowned. At that time Bhentar and Elvi tried to help Nandi. Not long after Nandi and Elvi were found, but Bhentar disappeared on suspicion of being attracted to the seaweed and drowned in the lake. Elvi herself is currently still being treated in hospital.
