The elected representatives of SYTRAL, the organizing authority for mobility in the Lyon metropolitan area, renewed their confidence in Transdev Rhône-Alpes on May 3, which is the current operator for 2 lots of the Cars du Rhône network. The new 8-year contracts cover an amount of more than 130 million euros. They will start on 1is next September.
“Lot 1, which concerns regular and school transport services on the perimeter of the 31 municipalities of the Agglomeration Community of West Rhone, includes in particular a CNG station project at the Sarcey depot to support the acquisition of 40 coaches to bioNGV – a renewable version of NGV, obtained through the methanization of waste – in the west of the Rhône, ”states the Transdev press release.
“Lot 2, which includes the perimeter of the communities of communes of Pays de Mornant, Pays d’Ozon and Vallée du Garon, is accompanied by the commissioning of 28 new coaches -5 are already in service – operating on BioGNV from the Corbas depot to provide regular and school lines to the territories concerned. This contract also has the advantage of integrating ‘LEMON’, a true Transdev innovation laboratory, responding to SYTRAL’s strong desire for innovation in digital, customer, ecological and environmental issues, ”says Transdev.
“A total of 68 NGV vehicles will be integrated into our fleet during the first 5 years of the contract,” said Bernard Nuer, director of Transdev Rhône Alpes in the press release. “Promoting clean mobility is at the heart of our DNA and our know-how. On the strength of our experience in the implementation of low-emission means of transport, we are delighted with the confidence placed in us to support Sytral in its desire to guarantee sustainable mobility ”notes for his part Ludovic Jourdain, regional director of Transdev Auvergne Rhône Alpes.
