1. KSAD ‘Sopiri’ Iriana
KSAD Andika Perkasa several times attracted public attention when interacting with President Jokowi. One of them was when President Jokowi joked that the Army Chief of Staff was the driver of First Lady Iriana Jokowi.
The moment that Jokowi joked at Iriana and Andika occurred after the TNI’s 76th Anniversary ceremony at the Merdeka Palace was over, Tuesday (5/10/2021). At that time, Jokowi, together with Iriana and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and Wury Estu Handayani, inspected the defense equipment in front of the Palace.
A number of other officials also accompanied, including Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto. Jokowi seemed to have a dialogue with Hadi in front of a row of tactical vehicles on display. After that, KSAD General Andika Perkasa also gave an explanation to Jokowi.
The review of these tactical vehicles did not last long. Jokowi and his entourage immediately left the location. Before returning to the Palace, Jokowi had joked with his wife. Jokowi offered Iriana a ride in a tactical vehicle for the TNI and KSAD Andika, who was driving.
“Want to go up how? Let that be drive Mr. Andika, ha-ha-ha….,” Jokowi joked to Iriana.
2. Release Jokowi to Europe
The next moment occurred when Jokowi was about to leave for three countries, namely Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, Friday (29/10/2021). Jokowi’s agenda is to attend the G20 Summit in Rome and COP26 in Glasgow. After that, Jokowi will continue his bilateral visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
What attracted attention was the group that released President Jokowi.
Present to release Jokowi’s working visit were National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Pranowo to State Secretary Pratikno. KSAD General TNI Andika Perkasa was seen in the group.
Usually, on previous occasions, the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto would also release Jokowi if the National Police Chief General Sigit was present. However, this time, the Army Chief of Staff, General Andika Perkasa, was present.
However, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto explained why it was the Army Chief of Staff who participated in releasing Jokowi to Europe. The basic reason is so that there is no offense.

Hadi explained that Andika is the most senior alumnus of the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy (Akabri). Andika is an alumnus of the Akabri 1987.
