2 girls in Turkey found safe after 3 days buried in ruins page all

KOMPAS.com – Three days after earthquake 7.0 magnitude shook the province of Izmir, Turkey, two girls were found safe.

Rescuers found them after three days buried under the rubble of an apartment building. Rescuers managed to evacuate the two girls alive.

Reported AP, Monday (11/2/2020), the two girls were trapped in the rubble of the apartment that had collapsed as a result earthquake separately.

The local residents who witnessed the success of the evacuation cheered with joy.

The first girl found safe was Idil Sirin (14), who was trapped for 58 hours. However, in this incident, Idil’s younger sister, Ipek (8) was found dead.

Meanwhile, the second girl who was found safe was Elif Perincek (3). The toddler was found by the rescue team in the rubble of the building seven hours from the evacuation process of Idil.

Elif was saved after two days from the rescue of his mother and sister.

He has spent at least 65 hours in the ruins of the apartment, and became the 106th person who was saved alive.

Muammer Celik, a member of the rescue team, said that he thought Elif had died while he was near the ruins.

“There is dust on his face. His face is white. As I dusted his face, he opened his eyes. I was dumbfounded, “he said.

He added that the rescue was a great miracle. Celik also said that during the rescue operation, Elif did not let go of her hand.

“I am now his older brother,” he said.

The victim died 85 people

Quoting Kompas.com, Saturday (31/10/2020), Head of Earthquake Information and Tsunami Early Warning at the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Daryono explained that the source of the earthquake in Turkey was a fault or fault with a normal fault mechanism.

“This earthquake was triggered by the Sisam Fault activity (Sisam fault),” said Daryono to Kompas.com, Saturday (31/10/2020).

The Sisam Fault itself is an active fault with a downward movement mechanism or a normal fault with the length of the fault line of about 30 kilometers.
