This evening at 6:30 p.m., 1. FC Kaiserslautern will host SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion for the second matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga. The statistics clearly speak in favor of the hosts: In the single-tier 2nd League, Fürth lost 13 of the 22 duels against the Red Devils. Only against Karlsruher SC did Fürth lose more often.
It is particularly noteworthy that Kaiserslautern’s coach Markus Anfang is unbeaten in his five second division duels against Fürth so far (3 wins, two draws). With an average of 1.66 points per game, Anfang is currently the most successful coach in the 2nd Bundesliga.

FCK could make a historic start
1. FC Kaiserslautern could make a historic start tonight. After the 2-1 victory at newly promoted Ulm, Markus Anfang could become the first FCK coach since Michael Frontzeck in February 2018 to start a season with two wins in a row. Across the season, the Palatinate team won four of the last five second division matches.
FCK is particularly dangerous in set pieces: since the start of last season, they have scored the most goals from set pieces in the second division (27). Boris Tomiak also scored from the penalty spot on the first matchday of this season. Another focus is on Aaron Opoku, who scored after half-time in each of the last two games, extending his streak of second division goals.
Fürth with away weakness
SpVgg Greuther Fürth, on the other hand, is struggling with an away weakness. The Franconians have only won one of their last eight away games in the 2nd league across the season. Last season, Fürth started with five winless away games before they picked up their first three points on matchday 12 in Kaiserslautern.
Nevertheless, Fürth is undefeated in five second division games (three wins, two draws) and could start a second division season with two wins for the first time since the 2013/14 season. Julian Green scored on the first matchday, making him the team that has scored at least once in each of his eight second division seasons. It remains to be seen whether Fürth can overcome its weakness away from home today.
