Hamburger SV’s return to the Bundesliga is still far from being dry. Nevertheless, the planning for the case of promotion has long been underway behind the scenes. Money is tight, two top talents could leave HSV.
The lead of HSV at the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga over their pursuers VfL Bochum is currently four points. After all, five points separate the Hanseatic League from fourth place.
But even in the past few years, the Rothosen were often promising in the race for the long-awaited return to the House of Lords. But in the end it was never enough.
It is obvious that those responsible are already dealing with a possible promotion and the associated planning for the first division. “Sport Bild” is now revealing the first details of this process, even if these are subject to change due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
HSV: Two top talents about to leave?
Accordingly, in the event of promotion, the licensed player’s budget should be increased from 23 million to around 36 million euros – a significant jump, but still significantly less than in the past. In the 2017/2018 relegation season, the salary budget for the HSV professionals was still 50 million euros.
And: 30 of the 36 million euros in the upper house would already be planned for the current team according to the current status. Only six million euros remained for new additions. So there is not much leeway for those responsible for HSV around sporting director Jonas Boldt and Co.
In order to further increase the financial framework, profitable sales from players are not excluded, it is said. Stephan Ambrosius and Josha Vagnoman are specifically mentioned in this context. There would be a market in the summer for the two German U21 national players, who are considered great defensive talents. Vagnoman’s market value alone is estimated at around four million euros. According to Boldt, there is no longer a professional at HSV for sale anyway.
