2. Bundesliga: Hannover misses jump to the top: 0:0 in Münster

Münster – Hannover 96 missed the chance to jump to the top of the 2nd Bundesliga table. In the match against Preußen Münster, coach Stefan Leitl’s team, which was considered one of the favourites, could only manage a 0:0 draw. Unlike their victory against Regensburg (2:0) a week earlier, the North Germans offered a mixed performance in the duel with the promoted team. In front of a good 15,000 spectators in the sold-out Preußen Stadium, Münster was the better team for long stretches.

The two founding members of the Bundesliga faced each other in a competitive match for the first time in 30 years. Inspired by the fantastic atmosphere in the home stadium, the underdog from Münster got off to a better start and created two chances to take the lead through Malik Batmaz (13th/36th). Only the good form of goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler saved the guests from falling behind at half-time.

Even after the restart, the Prussians kept pushing, but Luca Bazzoli’s chance (75′) was once again thwarted by Zieler. It was only in the final phase that Hannover threatened to score. But Jessic Ngankam only hit the crossbar in injury time.
