2. Bundesliga – 2. Bundesliga: Bremen celebrates thanks to last-minute penalties

Cologne (SID) – The nervous Maximilian Eggestein and double packer Josh Sargent gave Werder Bremen their first win of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 3-2 (1-0) at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Eggestein converted a penalty in stoppage time (90 + 6) and thus ensured the first Bremen success in the lower house for more than 40 years.

Previously, Sargent had shot the guests with his hits (39th and 64th) in front of 12,850 spectators. Rouwen Hennings with his third goal of the season (47th) and Khaled Narey (90th + 4) each equalized. But Bremen countered again by Eggestein.

In the afternoon, Jahn Regensburg celebrated the second win of the season in the second game in a 3-0 (1-0) win against SV Sandhausen. Carlo Boukhalfa (34th), Scott Kennedy (70th) and Joel Zwarts (81st) scored the goals for SSV Jahn, who also scored three points at the start with 2-0 in Darmstadt last weekend.

For SVS it was the second defeat after the 2-0 defeat at the start of the season against Düsseldorf. The sand houses Oumar Diakhite saw the yellow-red card for repeated foul play (75th).

Meanwhile, Hansa Rostock had a surprise at 3-0 (1-0) at Hannover 96. 1. FC Heidenheim celebrated a one-two punch within just 84 seconds and won 2-1 (0-0) at newly promoted FC Ingolstadt.

The Düsseldorf team took control of the game early in rainy weather and had a good double chance after a quarter of an hour. While Edgar Prib’s shot was saved by Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer (17th), Jakub Piotrowski’s head just missed the goal. Bremen only found their way into the game better after around 25 minutes and had the first real opportunity through Niclas Füllkrug (28th).

After the break it got more and more hectic. First of all, Düsseldorf celebrated the equalization and the supposed point gain – only to receive a blow in the neck just seconds later. In an unsuccessful rescue operation, Khaled Narey met Felix Aug instead of Bremen’s ball. Eggestein kept his nerve at the penalty kick.

Seasoned Hanno Behrens had put FC Hansa in the lead, John Verhoek (46th) and Nik Omladic (90th + 3) subsequently increased. Heidenheim didn’t even need a minute and a half to turn an impending defeat into a victory.

Patrick Schmidt (73rd) and Tim Kleindienst (75th), who met with a soulful lifter, ensured the somewhat flattering success. Filip Bilbija (60th) had scored the opening goal for the Ingolstadt team.
