Assistant coach Indonesian National teamNova Arianto said that there were two big changes that appeared in the team as a result of touch Shin Tae Yong.
Shin Tae Yong was contracted by PSSI in December 2019. This South Korean man started his touch in the national team in January 2020. Until June 2022, Nova saw the performance of the Indonesian national team promising.
The two major changes shown by all Garuda players are work ethic and mentality. Every player who joins the national team now has a high work ethic.
“I see that the progress of the Indonesian national team players has been extraordinary since the first time coach Shin Tae Yong came to the last in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification, the progress has been extraordinary,” Nova said.
“The players’ work ethic, the mentality of the players are getting better on the field. Hopefully in the future this can be even better,” said the former Persib Bandung player to CNNIndonesia.com.
Nova said that the players were not too bothered by people’s pessimism ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification. The draw against Bangladesh was disappointing.
However, Shin still believes the players can perform better. This belief is what makes all the players spark. They want to prove they can qualify for the 2023 Asian Cup.
“We understand the people’s pessimism when we left for Kuwait, after the draw against Bangladesh. But our coaching team has our own period,” said Nova.
“Bangladesh was indeed one of our periodization for the Asian Cup Qualification. After that everything went well and we are grateful to be able to qualify for the Asian Cup after 15 years.”
Nova recounted that the players’ mental mood was tense before the match against Kuwait. But the uncomfortable feeling was finally released shortly after entering the field.
“Ahead of the first match against Kuwait as a key match, the tension is definitely there, but coach Shin gave instructions to maintain a work ethic on the field,” said Nova.
“This allows the players to show a very good work ethic against Kuwait. Finally we can turn the situation around if we can win against them,” he said.
