A 31-year-old man got behind the wheel of his car while drunk late on Friday night. In the city of Kronstorf, the man from the Linz-Land area lost control of the car around 11:30 pm, left the road and crashed into a tree.
Despite this, the driver put the car back and went back on the road to escape from the scene of the accident. He may not have noticed a first aider running to the scene: the witness was able to get to safety, otherwise he would have been hit by the returning car.
It wasn’t long until the man was discovered. That same evening, police turned up at the 31-year-old’s home address in Enns. The reason for the hasty hit-and-run also emerged. A blood alcohol test showed a value of 2.54 per thousand. The young man’s driver’s license was temporarily suspended and he will be reported, police announced Saturday morning.
