What will be the extent of global warming in Belgium in the future? The consequences for our country of three global warming scenarios are analyzed by climatologists from the University of Liège: 2, 3 and 4ºC. From there, the regional atmospheric model (MAR) simulates the evolution of temperatures in Belgium. This work will serve as the basis for a “mapping” of climate risks in Wallonia. Temperatures will be higher than the global average, as is already the case today as shown in our infographic. Depending on warming, the climate of Brussels will resemble that of Poitiers in Vienne (for 2ºC), Angoulême in Charente (for 3ºC) or Agen in Lot-et-Garonne (for 4ºC), knowing that warming in the Ardennes is “significantly greater than in Brussels”, according to climatologist Xavier Fettweis.
