He Saint Lawrence Argentina won 2-0 this Thursday against Valley Independentwith goals from Alexis Cuello and Adam Bareiro, which allows them not to fall behind in Group F of the Libertadores Cupwhere they now play a triple tie at 4 points with the Ecuadorian team and the Uruguayan Liverpool.

The three teams will play in the last two dates of the group stage for the second place that gives access to the round of 16since the first is virtually from the Brazilian Palmeiras, leader with 10 units.

Independiente del Valle is momentarily second since, despite having the same goal difference as San Lorenzo (-1), it has more goals in its favor, while Liverpool was bottom, with -6 goals in goal difference.

From the beginning it was perceived on the field that San Lorenzo was the team that had to put all its effort, with a greater intensity than Independiente, who entered with a more passive attitude and little by little began to blur until offering an unusual version for the double champion of the Copa Sudamericana.

During the first fifteen minutes the game passed without emotions until Cuello’s goal, to which he received a free ball and he stayed before the Ecuadorian goalkeeper Moisés Ramírezwho almost managed to deflect the shot.

Páez does not intervene

The goal gave wings to San Lorenzo, who in a new defensive imbalance by the visiting team scored the second goal, when Iván Leguizamón entered the area from the right wing and tried to finish the play himself, but the ball fell to Cuello and He gave it to Bareiro so that he could shoot it without mercy.

In an innocuous play, Argentine goalkeeper Facundo Altamirano was injured, and had to be replaced half an hour into the game by Gastón Gómez, who made his fourth appearance with the Ciclón jersey.

Independiente del Valle’s only approach to the rival goal in the entire first half was a long-range shot by Renato Ibarra in the 38th minute that Gómez deflected into a corner kick, while his youth star Kendry Páez barely intervened in the game.

Already in the second half the Valle team reacted, advanced lines and moved closer to the rival area, with some dangerous plays, among them a controversial fall by Beder Caicedo that could be a penalty but was not reviewed by the VAR.

In the final stretch of the match, the ‘crows’ once again took control of the game and Bareiro was about to score the third in another one-on-one with Domínguez that the goalkeeper managed to deflect over the crossbar.

On the fifth date of Group F, San Lorenzo de Almagro will host Liverpool and Independiente del Valle will visit Palmeiras.
