Foreign Minister Park Jin, US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will discuss ways to collaborate on North Korea’s seventh nuclear test at a three-party meeting of foreign ministers on the same day.

The Korea-US-Japan foreign ministers meeting was held in Bali, Indonesia, where the G7 foreign ministers meeting was held about two months later on 8 July.

In his remarks on the same day, Secretary Blincoln pointed out that although South Korea, the United States and Japan have cooperated bilaterally, trilateral cooperation has intensified in recent years.

Subsequently, Secretary Blincoln stressed the need for trilateral cooperation not only on regional security issues but also on global issues, saying: “If we cooperate, we become more efficient.”
