Last race: Ryan Blaney pushed his Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Kyle Larson back to Michigan. Kevin Harvick was 14th, strong enough to clinch 15th of 16 playoff spots with one run left in the regular season.

Quick Facts: There’s an open playoff berth in Sunday’s race. Tyler Reddick can come in with 31 points while Austin Dillon needs help. Both can clinch an outright victory, and so can a host of other drivers. … Kyle Larson can win regular season championship with 32 points… Two teams fined $ 10,000 each after post-race inspections found unsecured lug nuts in Michigan: Toyota 23XI Racing driven by Bubba Wallace and the # 51 Chevrolet Petty Ware Racing driven by Cody Articles. The No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing team (Ross Chastain) was also penalized for losing an axle from the Chevrolet in the race.

Final race: AJ Allmendinger edged out Brandon Jones in third overtime to win for the third time this season and the eighth time in his series career.

Quick Facts: There are four races left to define the 12-driver field for the playoffs. … Allmendinger and rookie Ty Gibbs have each won three times, but Allmendinger made it in 22 starts, Gibbs just 12.… Allmendinger is 35 points behind leader Austin Cindric. Justin Algaier is third, 150 points behind.
