The company M&T 1997, a Czech manufacturer of design tools, has had a new important shareholder since September of this year. According to information from Seznam Zpráv, the transaction took place in several steps on the public market at the Prague Stock Exchange, where the German company Griffwerk bought five percent of M&T shares worth about 17 million crowns.
This ownership link is related to the new collaboration between the two companies, which includes, among other things, the production and joint development of products.
Griffwerk is part of the strong European group Arbonia, which is one of the most important players in the European market for doors and interior decoration. Among other things, there are own brands such as Prüm, Garant and Invado. Thanks to this, M&T 1997 could better reach foreign markets.
“Griffwerk is one of the largest manufacturers of door handles in Europe with a turnover of around 60 million euros per year, which is about ten times more than ours. From the cooperation, we intend to strengthen our position in the Western markets, coordinating the expansion in the markets in the Central and Eastern European region, as well as cooperation in research, development and production of new products and services,” he says about the partnership for SZ Byznys M&T owner 1997 Ivo Ulich.
The door to Europe
Czech crank manufacturer whose shares are traded on the Start market Prague Stock Exchangesees great potential in the new partnership, especially in Germany, where Griffwerk has a strong position, while also benefiting from the partnership with the Arbonia group, which produces more than 2.5 million doors per year.
“For comparison – for example, Czech Sapeli produces 150,000 doors per year, and we ourselves produce around 125,000 door handles per year. So the size of the entire Arbonia group naturally allows us to grow within Western and Central and Eastern Europe. Currently, our exports make up 11.5 percent of sales, and we believe that thanks to this connection, this ratio will increase dynamically,” says Ulich.
The collaboration with the German company could also bring new investment in technology and innovation, a key area of growth for M&T 1997. Ulich says that Griffwerk is a clear leader in its market. in terms of innovation and new products.
“It has invested a lot in recent years and moved products and services related to the smart home, where the physical product of design is connected to smart functions. We certainly have room for cooperation in this area. On the other hand, M&T offers processes and methods in its production programs that are of interest to Griffwerk, so there is also the possibility of cooperation in production,” concluded Ulich, a former member of the former professional footballer.
Strong operating profit
In addition to the strategic changes, M&T 1997 published its preliminary financial results for the first half of this year. The company’s sales reached 80.8 million crowns, which means a year-on-year decrease of 6.7 percent. Nevertheless, the company achieved a strong operating profit (EBITDA) of 22.6 million kroner and profit before tax of 19.4 million kroner. The company plans to publish the final audited results in the coming days.
Meanwhile, M&T 1997 confirmed its full-year outlook, when it expects sales of 164.8 million kroner, EBITDA operating profit of 47.5 million kroner and net profit of 30.5 million kroner.
Based on the results so far, the company’s board of directors intends to pay an advance on the shares by the end of the year, which should be between 600 and 1,000 crowns per share.
