QUERÉTARO, Qro., November 17, 2024.- The Secretary of Health of the State of Querétaro (SESA) reports that until November 14, the implementation 196,126 doses of the influenza vaccine, which represents progress in the 31.66% of the goal of the state 619,499 doses.
Regarding cases of seasonal flu, the state has recorded 12 confirmed cases, distributed among eight women and four men, between 18 and 72 years. Among the towns affected are Querétaro (9 cases), Corregidora (1 case), El Marqués (1 case) and San Juan del Río (1 case). Fortunately, no death from the flu has been reported in the state so far.
At the national level, as of November 11, 441 positive cases of influenza and 4 deaths were reported in the states of Guerrero, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí and Yucatan.
Vulnerable Groups
In the cold season, the risk of severe respiratory diseases, including influenza, increases significantly. For this reason, SESA urges the population of vulnerable groups to get vaccinated: children from 6 to 59 months, people over 60 years of age, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and the those with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, asthma. , COPD, HIV and morbid obesity.
Symptoms of influenza
Influenza is characterized by high fever, dry cough, muscle, joint, head and neck pain, general malaise and runny nose. The cough can last up to two weeks. Although symptoms usually disappear within a week in healthy people, those with chronic illnesses can suffer serious complications.
Vaccination posts
Querétaro State Health Services (SESEQ) continues to apply the flu vaccine in 198 health centers in the entity’s 18 towns, during their normal hours. In addition, they have installed vaccination posts in strategic places such as Plaza de Armas, with service from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
