Dubai Chambers hosts Canadian delegation to promote food trade

Dubai Chambers recently organized 195 bilateral business meetings between Emirati and Canadian investors specializing in the food and beverage sector, on the sidelines of a business meeting hosted by the chambers at their headquarters, to discuss joint cooperation and create new opportunities of investment in the food and beverage sector between the two sides.
Dubai Chambers provided support to the visiting Canadian delegation by informing its members of the requirements for exporting food and beverages to the country and helping to educate them about the laws and legislation governing the import and export market and the food and beverage sector, and examining before them the rewarding opportunities the emirate offers to international food and beverage companies.
Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Chambers, said: “Canada is a strategic trading partner for the Emirate of Dubai and the role of Dubai Chambers is to connect the Canadian market with the Dubai market by bringing stakeholders together in order to facilitate the organization of events and meetings to strengthen existing bilateral relations in the fields of trade and business.
The food and beverage sector is one of the largest, most profitable and most competitive business sectors in Dubai, and food service in particular is attracting growing interest from investors, so we are bringing together companies from Canada and Dubai to explore and capitalize on. the opportunities in this important sector. Developing trade relations with Canada will help enhance joint trade opportunities in the food and beverage sector, as well as support the UAE’s efforts in the field of food safety and improve relations with friendly markets. Radha Krishna Panday, Canadian Ambassador to the UAE, who led a Canadian trade delegation from the food and beverage sector, said, “Dubai Chambers has always been a reliable partner to Canada; Together, we have managed to strengthen the trade relationship between the two countries and we always try to use opportunities to advance this relationship. We are grateful to Dubai Chambers for hosting the Canadian delegation from the food and beverage sector and for organizing successful meetings between Canadian and Emirati companies in this promising sector.”
The value of consumer food service sales in the UAE was AED 44.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 16.4 percent from 2020, according to Euromonitor data.
By 2026, the value of food service outlet sales in the UAE is expected to reach AED55 billion and grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.3%.
