194 more corona patients in intensive care, average number of infections is falling Inland

This means that the number of people with corona who occupy a hospital bed has decreased by 92 in four days. Last Monday there were still 658 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals.

The ICs will take care of 8 patients less on Friday than 24 hours previously. 10 new seriously ill people with Covid-19 were admitted to an intensive care unit. On balance, fewer people with corona are occupying an IC bed than a day ago, because more people were allowed to leave the ward or died than were newly admitted.

There are currently 372 corona patients in the nursing wards, six fewer than a day earlier. The clinics took care of 51 new people with Covid-19 last 24 hours.

Lowest level since July

Nearly 2,200 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past day. That is considerably less than last Friday. As a result, the weekly average falls to the lowest level since the beginning of July. The number of deaths reported is on the rise.

Between Thursday morning and Friday morning, 2172 positive tests were registered at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Exactly one week ago, the institute reported nearly 2,700 new cases.

In the past seven days, 14,747 positive tests have been recorded. For the first time since July 7, more than two months ago, this weekly figure is below 15,000. On average, it amounts to just over 2100 cases per day. That average is now falling for the seventh day in a row.

In the week up to last Friday, RIVM received more than 17,500 reports of positive tests. That means that the number of confirmed infections has fallen by almost 16 percent. This is the largest weekly decline since August 9, when the fourth wave peaked.

Rotterdam had the most positive tests. In the Maasstad, 181 residents were told that they had contracted the virus. In Amsterdam, the corona virus was diagnosed in 112 people. 81 infections came to light in The Hague, 68 in Utrecht and 52 in Almere. In 56 municipalities, not a single resident tested positive.

The number of reported deaths rose by ten. For a Friday, that’s the highest number since May 28. It concerns two people from the South Holland municipality of Lansingerland and also residents of the municipalities of Utrecht, Eindhoven, Haarlemmermeer, Ede, Veenendaal, Hoogeveen, Huizen and Gilze en Rijen. The fact that their death is now registered does not mean that they died in the past day. It can sometimes take a while before a death from corona is reported.

In the past week, RIVM received 45 reports of deaths from the coronavirus, an average of more than six a day. That is the highest level since August 28, almost three weeks ago.
