NEW YORK – The New York City Police Department announced that the 19-year-old was shot in the head Tuesday He was pronounced dead Wednesday at Brookdale Hospital.
Ethan Holder, who was also an employee of the New York school system, was shot in broad daylight in Brooklyn, police announced.
Authorities arrested Javier Oates, 19, as a suspect in Holder’s fatal shooting.
The shooting took place around 2:50 pm when the victim was entering Viale M towards Utica in the Flatlands neighborhood, authorities said. The suspect shot four times across the street and one of the bullets hit the young man, police said.
The suspected gunman escaped the scene in a sedan and was last seen wearing a black jacket, mask, and red hoodie.
The victim worked Thursday at PS 203, but is usually assigned to different schools.

Our educators, our students and our families deserve better than to live with the threat of gun violence.
