The police have arrested a 19-year-old man from Strijen in Vlaardingen. The man behaved suspiciously, after which security guards called the police. That happened tonight in Greta Hofstralaan, where the plumber lives who was previously the target of attacks with explosives.
When the police arrived, the man fled. He dropped a bag in the process. The man was arrested a short distance away. An explosives team examines the contents of the bag.
According to reporters at the scene, police searched for the man with cars and a helicopter.
The police cannot yet say whether the man is now a suspect in the plumber’s case. “That is plausible, but we still have to investigate that,” says a spokesperson.
Ten explosions
The last explosion at the plumber’s home was three days ago. It was the tenth explosion at one of his properties, the previous one was at a business premises. The man has been the target of attacks since May last year. Not only on his home and business, but also on his mother’s house and cars.
Due to the attacks, he did not live at home for a while, but in mid-January Mayor Wijbenga gave him permission to return home. There had been no more attacks for several weeks.
Three suspects were previously arrested, two Rotterdam residents and a man from Delfzijl. Nothing is yet known about a motive. The police patrol the plumber’s premises and there are cameras.
