World Cup top stars from eight nations
The World Cup semi-finalists Sweden had a total of three players from both teams: while right winger Niclas Ekberg, voted into the World Cup all-star team, and Sweden’s top scorer Eric Johansson wore the blue and yellow jersey on the Kiel side, it was right winger Daniel from SCM Pettersson. Three main protagonists of the cup cracker were also for Germany at the World Cup: Rune Dahmke from THW Kiel and Lukas Mertens and Philipp Weber from SCM. Four players fighting for progress in the DHB Cup in Hamburg were active for Norway: The Kiel trio of Sander Sagosen, Petter Överby and Harald Reinkind played together with Christian O’Sullivan from SC Magdeburg on Sunday.
