19 | North Coasters fear their pets

The
SPCA Côte-Nord had to reassure people who contacted it to do
euthanize their animals for fear that they will transmit the coronavirus to them.

No euthanasia for this reason has been done by the
SPCA. The worried people were rather reassured by the organization.

The Quebec Order of Veterinary Physicians indicates that currently,
there is no evidence that pets can be
infected with the virus, or that they can spread it to humans.

The director of the SPCA Côte-Nord invites the population to
be vigilant.

“We keep our distance if we come across animals of
company, we do the same thing as human, “said Lucie Dionne.

Less
of adoptions

As in many business sectors today,
there has been a slowdown in adoptions at the SPCA Côte-Nord. There
is however no increase in dropouts.

The organization has put in place several measures to ensure
the health of its employees and the population.

Visits to the refuge are limited and we suggest using
mail, or internet for license renewal.
