19% drop in cement deliveries at the end of July

Cement deliveries fell 19.5% at the end of July 2020, after a drop of 17.8% a month earlier and + 3.3% a year earlier, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) .

For the month of July alone, “the construction and public works (BTP) sector recorded a drop in cement sales of 24.1%, usually caused by the holidays relating to the holiday of Eid Al-Adha having coincided with this month, and this after the notable increase recorded a month earlier (+ 33%), in connection with the measures to relax confinement from June 11, ”explains the DEPF in its economic report for the month of August.

Regarding financing transactions in the real estate sector, they experienced a slight acceleration at the end of the first six months of 2020 compared to the previous month, i.e. an increase, year on year, in the overall outstanding loans granted to the construction sector. real estate by 1.6%, after + 1% at the end of May 2020 and + 3.3% a year earlier.

This change is driven by an improvement in the outstanding loans allocated to housing by 1.8% and loans allocated to real estate development by 0.4%.
