NOS Newstoday, 07:40

Nineteen people, including nine minors, were arrested this morning during the blockade of supermarket distribution centers in Bleiswijk. A spokesperson for the Rotterdam police confirmed this to the NOS.

A group of farmers with tractors blocked access to the centers of Jumbo, Hoogvliet and Aldi for the third night in a row. They did not heed the police’s call to leave, and were therefore arrested around 5 a.m.

‘Calm and friendly’

The mobile unit was deployed for this, but “the atmosphere remained calm and friendly,” says the spokesman. The arrested people are expected to be released later in the day.

Twelve tractors were also moved during the police action, according to the spokesman, partly with a truck and partly driven by the officers themselves. “They have not been confiscated, and can be picked up elsewhere later.”
