1872 companies owe their employees wages in 2024

According to the Ministry of Justice, as of August 6, 2024, more than 34 thousand wage arrears were registered. Almost 2,000 companies were identified as debtors. The largest number of these enterprises is located in the Sumy region, the smallest in the Chernivtsi region. At the beginning of the large-scale campaign, debts fell, but more new cases were opened this year than in the whole of 2023.

The largest number of cases regarding wage arrears was registered in 2021 – 6.3 thousand. After the start of the large-scale invasion, the number of new cases decreased by 29%. Last year, their number began to grow: +6.6% per year. This year, companies already owe their employees 7.1% more than in the whole of last year.

1,872 companies owe salaries to their employees. Most of these employers were found in the Sumy region – 5.6 thousand cases or 16.4% of the total. Kyiv follows with 3.4 thousand wage arrears (9.8%). Dnipropetrovs’k region completes the top three – 2.2 thousand or 6.6%.

It is worth noting that in almost 3,000 cases the region is not specified.

Among the organizational and legal forms, the largest debtors are state-owned enterprises and joint-stock companies – more than 11 thousand and 9 thousand cases, or 33.8% and 28.8% of all debts. In third place are limited liability companies with 4.9 thousand or 14.2%. Subsidiaries and municipal enterprises account for 12.5% ​​and 4.3% of all debts, respectively.

It is worth noting that various subsidiaries of Oblavtodor account for 9.7% of the total wage arrears: 3.3 thousand cases. Only the Sumy Machine-Building Research and Production Association owes its employees more money – 4,071 cases, or 11.8% of the total.
