1860 Munich: Next transfer? Supervisory board must first release money | Sport

Will HE be the next new guy?

After the XXL upheaval including ten new signings and over 20 departures, 1860 Munich has started the new third division season with historically weak results, with two defeats. Last week, coach Agirios Giannikis (44) confirmed that internal talks are underway about further reinforcements. As BILD learned, the Lions, led by sports boss Christian Werner (42), have Michael Martin (24) on their list.

Martin is a central midfielder who played in the youth teams of Aalen, Heidenheim and Bochum. The Crailsheim native had his best season in Austria at SV Ried in the 2022/23 season. Although Martin could not prevent relegation, he still came to the attention of 1. FC Köln and Union Berlin, among others.

After his move to SC Paderborn, where he was not given a chance under Lukas Kwasniok (43), the next step was to IK Sirius (Sweden). He is currently on loan to SK Dynamo Ceske Budejovice (Czech Republic). The problem: The Czech club has a new investor who has replaced the board and coach and wants to focus more on local talent. Therefore, the loan was canceled after a few weeks and Martin had to return to his home club in Sweden. Is he now heading to Munich?

Martin is considered to be strong in tackles, creative and with good vision. And Sechzig still has a need in midfield. Since Martin’s contract in Sweden runs until 2028, a permanent commitment for the chronically cash-strapped Giesingers is unlikely. A loan is more likely.

But the transfer could also fail completely! Because: According to BILD information, the budget of around 4.5 million euros has already been exhausted. The Lions therefore need extra money for another player, which in turn must first be approved by the supervisory board.
