So far, 17,003 cases of the mutated variants of the coronavirus have been discovered in Switzerland. 5037 related to the British variant (B.1.1.7), 186 to the South African (B.1.351) and seven to the Brazilian (P.1). 11,773 cases could not be clearly assigned to any variant.
A total of 1,298,250 vaccine doses had been delivered to the cantons and Liechtenstein by the evening before yesterday. Of these, 1,101,753 doses were administered. 394,926 people are already fully vaccinated.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 5,524,301 tests have been carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, according to the FOPH. There were a total of 577,111 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus.
So far, 24,289 people have had to be treated in hospital for a Covid 19 disease. The number of deaths in connection with Covid 19 disease was 9,469.
