On March 18, 1848, people in Germany and Austria took to the barricades to fight for their freedom and democracy. A poetic search for traces in a collage of stories, songs and poems (ages 11 and up).

Louise Aston and Mathilde Anneke, two revolutionaries, meet on a ship that takes them away from home. They have to flee because the revolution of 1848 failed. They remember and dream of a better, freer future, because the long road to democracy has only just begun…
Gabi Altenbach and Ines Honsel talk, play and sing about fate, the everyday and the extraordinary. With playfulness and a close look at the people of this era, they create a vivid picture of the events and their consequences. Not a history lesson, but an experienced past!
