180 unique athletes honored in Künzell

Künzell (cb) – Special award for very special achievements: There was a lot going on in the Künzell community center on Thursday evening. At the community’s “Evening of Sports”, a total of 180 athletes who have proven themselves on the big stage over the past two years were honored.

“You really deserve more than an award for your sporting achievements,” said Sabine Räth. The person responsible for press and public relations for the municipality, herself an event moderator, led the evening with wit and charm and, above all, brought plenty of recognition with her. “We are happy and proud that our municipality is not only friendly, but also really sporty,” said Räth happily. But the helpers of the honorees should not go unmentioned either: “They are responsible for ensuring that you always find your motivation. A big thank you to those who are not in the spotlight,” said Räth.

The well-attended community center was welcomed by Mayor Timo Zentgraf. “180 athletes: We were surprised ourselves by how many awards there were,” said the mayor with a smile. “What you achieve cannot really be honored enough.” Whether it was footballers, swimmers or athletes from fringe sports such as inline skating and archery: on Thursday, everyone who came came together and applauded each other. “It is really special what these athletes have achieved,” emphasized Zentgraf, for whom the event was a major highlight. Guests of honor from politics and sports also came to enjoy a wonderful evening together.
Various show acts ensured a colorful stage program: Be it the original Franz Habersack, who offered the people a unique entertainment show in Rhöner Platt, or Hannah Rützel from TSG Künzell, who created enchanting moments with her show dance. There was also an enchanting performance by Hannah and Charlotte Krebs: The two sisters from Pilgerzell thrilled the audience with their acrobatics and performed as a dance duo.

“The local sports clubs are a very central hub,” said Hermann Müller, politician from the CDU district association in Fulda: “Organized sport has a profound impact on our society and has a very special significance.” The deputy chairman of the Fulda-Hünfeld sports association, Thomas Plur, was also among the guests: “These achievements deserve great respect. Keep it up: we need you – you are a very important part of our society.”
