The next day 16 the Provincial Court of Castellon will sit in the dock the only adult — he was 18 years— involved in the attempt to murder which in December 2020 was broadcast live by Instagramas published exclusively by Mediterráneo at the time.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of 21 years in prison for the oldest of the adolescents for the crimes of illegal detention, against moral integrity, robbery with violence, damages and attempted murder -although alternatively it proposes a sentence for aggravated injuries-. It also contemplates a restraining order.
With regard to civil liability, the Public Ministry requests 31,520 euros for injuries, the consequences of the victim and cosmetic damage.
It should be remembered that two minors, who at the time of the events were 16 and 17 years old, have already been tried and sentenced to four years of closed confinement -plus another five of probation and a restraining order-, as this newspaper will also advance.
The facts
As proven by magistrate Natalia Herrero, the convicted minors and the adult who will be prosecuted next month approached the victim when she opened her house on San Isidro street at dawn. “They pushed him inside, sat him on a chair and immobilized him with duct tape, tying his hands to the armrests of the chair to prevent any defense and escape”says the court document, which also states that they threatened the wounded man and made him give up the money from his accounts to let him go.
The person affected refused, so the condemned they beat him all over his body, head, back, chest, hands and arms with an industrial mixer and also with a spanner.
Goal: money
The defendants searched the injured man’s property in search of money. The perpetrators of the kidnapping went live with the Instagram account of one of them and broadcast the state in which they had left the victim after the brutal beating. In the images they also said that his intentions were to cause his death if he did not give them the money.
Finally, it was one of the viewers of the live show on social networks who contacted the Benicarló Civil Guard. The agents located the property around 4:00 p.m. and located the victim, who was urgently transferred to the Regional Hospital of Vinaròs. The minors were then arrested, but not before one of them attacked one of the intervening civil guards.
