18-Year-Old Cyclist’s Reckless Highway Adventure Ends with Fines

An 18-year-old cyclist caused a life-threatening situation on the A2 between Den Bosch and Vught on Friday night. He cycled there on the highway, without lights.

At around half past two in the morning, the police control room received several reports about the cyclist driving on the highway. Officers then rushed to the A2. In the meantime, passers-by had stopped the cyclist and put on a safety vest.

The man cycled on the A2 between the exit at the provincial house and the exit to the A65 at Vught. In his own words, the man had set the navigation on his phone to home and the navigation sent him home via the highway.

“The man was quite under the influence of alcohol and lost track,” saw a 112 correspondent. Officers escorted the man with his bicycle to the A65 exit near Rembrandtlaan near Vught, where he could continue his way home.

The bike ride on the highway left the man with a ticket of 130 euros, because of driving on the highway, and a fine of 60 euros for cycling without lighting.
