There has been a traffic accident in Gjesdal in Rogaland, the Sør-West police district confirms to VG. A single vehicle is involved.
– Unfortunately, it ended with the driver, an 18-year-old boy, being declared dead on the spot, says operations manager Helene Strand.
Relatives have been notified.
A car is said to have driven off the road and into a tree and fence, the police explained earlier this evening. This resulted in the driver being seriously injured.
The reason why the car left the road is unknown. Work is underway with crime scene investigations.
Forensics and the accident team from the Swedish Road Administration are on the scene.
The police first received information about the accident at 10:47 p.m.
Seldalveien, where the accident happened, is still closed.
