In the night from Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 May, the 22-year-old victim from Katwijk was found seriously injured at 04:45 on Talmastraat. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was rushed to hospital. Since then he has been in a worrying condition and died of his injuries on Sunday.
As a result of the shooting incident, a Large Scale Investigation Team (TGO) was set up under the leadership of the public prosecutor. The investigation led to the identity of the now arrested suspect. The 18-year-old Katwijker was arrested by an arrest team on Tuesday, May 30. He has been taken in for questioning.
Shortly after the shooting, a 24-year-old from Katwijk was arrested as a suspect. He was later released, but remains a suspect.
