The video toured the web at the beginning of May. It had been relayed on social networks as well as by DJ Skam, questioned by the RAID in the context of this case. We see a scooter driver not hesitating to rush on the passenger of a car stopped in the middle of the Total service station located on the RN1, at the Port.
The man getting out of the car was a police officer from the anti-crime squad. With his colleague who was at the wheel, they were not there by chance. They had spotted the scooter rider for a while and were about to call him out. But seeing himself in danger, the respondent did not hesitate to overthrow the police officer at the risk of inflicting serious injuries on him, or even crushing him.
The latter was finally prescribed 3 days of temporary work interruption.
Arrested in front of his home, his home searched
The one nicknamed “the fugitive from the gas station” had taken the RN in the opposite direction towards La Possession and had escaped his arrest.
A few days later, Richard M. was posted on Snapchat by DJ Skam. We saw the defendant giving a middle finger and the artist explaining to his followers “it is the one who made a coup’d’zèle with the policeman”.
The 24-year-old young man was arrested by the RAID following a trap set by the police. The man arrived on foot near his home in Rivière du Mât les Bas and was quickly arrested. The police noticed the scooter wheel sticking out of the gate and searched the house. There they found a shotgun, pouches, drug packets and lots of cash.
The police also found a child who was alone in the house. The man wanted by the police had left the kids to their fate when he had to take care of them while his partner was hospitalized.
Rachid M. was subsequently remanded in custody pending trial. He had been dismissed in order to allow his lawyer, Me Julien Baracco, to prepare his defense far from media pressure.
Incarcerated
The prosecutor requested 18 months in prison, 6 of which were suspended for acts of willful violence and driving without a license. He requested the immediate imprisonment of the accused because of the refusal to comply and so on.
The court followed the recommendations of the public prosecutor and therefore sentenced him to 18 months in prison, 6 of which were suspended. He has been imprisoned and will therefore sleep behind bars tonight.
Wanted for attempted homicide
The defendant who was tried this afternoon in Saint-Denis was wanted in a case where he is suspected of attempted homicide of a dalon. A case for which he will have to go back to court. And he will also be tried later following the discoveries of the police at his home.
