Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is currently experiencing every parent’s worst nightmare. His son has died.
Francis Ngannou appeals for help
On Monday, the Cameroonian news channel reported 237 Online that Ngannou’s 18-month-old son Kobe has passed away. Although the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy are still unknown, sources from MMA Fighting confirmed the news. Ngannou has not publicly commented on the matter but has posted on social media expressing his grief.
Ngannou expressed deep sadness at the sudden loss of his son, Kobe, describing him as his little boy, comrade and partner, full of life and joy. He lamented feeling lost without Kobe, unsure of his own identity after the tragedy. Ngannou asked how to deal with such a loss and pleaded for help.
In another post, he wonders how life can be so unfair and ruthless. Via Ngannou’s X account (formerly Twitter).
What’s the purpose of life if what we’re fighting tooth and nail to get away from is what finally hit us the hardest!? Why is life so unfair and merciless? Why does life always take what we don’t have? I’m fucking tired
Also the heavyweight’s head trainer, Eric Nicksickhas spoken out about the incident.
It’s been a heavy few days, words can’t express the pain we all feel for the Ngannou family during this time. Please keep Francis and his family in your heart, and may this be a reminder of the fragility of life. Say “I love you,” more often, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
In recent years, 37-year-old Ngannou has embarked on a professional boxing career alongside his MMA career. He has currently gone 0-2-0. in boxing. First a relatively even match against Tyson Fury and then he was terminated by Anthony Joshua.
