18 Ibero-American projects travel to Los Angeles and Las Vegas with the PLATINO go to AFM 2024 internationalization program

The PLATINO go to AFM program is an intensive course aimed at Ibero-American professionals who seek to internationalize their film projects. Its goal is to help participants acquire key skills and knowledge to co-produce and distribute their projects in other markets, especially in the United States.

The program combines advice, practical experience and participation in the American Film Market (AFM)offering an opportunity to establish valuable contacts with important members of the film industry. In addition, it is a unique opportunity to find international partners and collaborators and give a boost to their careers in the film industry. This year, the workshops, visits, meetings will be held in Los Angeles, while in Las Vegas the pitchings before investors, co-producers and distributors and a three-day pass will be available for the AFM.

The selected projects, 15 fiction, two documentaries and one animationfor the 2024 edition and their representatives at the American event are: ‘Parkour’ by Ana Rodriguez Rosell and María Victoria Hernández (fiction feature film, Spain and Dominican Republic); ‘The Annunciation’ by Carolina Mosquera (fictional film, Colombia); ‘From zero to 1M’ by Beatriz Acinas and Alec Hernández (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘Elephant’ by Francesca Polici (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘The Unexpected Duel’ (The Unexpected Grief) by Fernando Sánchez Carrera (feature documentary, United States, Mexico and Spain); ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ by Luis Reneo (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘Good Night’ by Gonzalo Martini and Fiorella Valencia (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘Brown’ by Ana Lydia Montoya (fiction feature film, Panama); ‘Antarctica’ by Sebastián Araya Serrano (fiction feature film, Chile and Spain); ‘International melodic’ by Agustina Chiarino and Hernán Olivera (fiction feature film, Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina; ‘Inside Luna’ by Nico Matji (animated feature film, Spain); ‘Gooseberry Blood’ by Loli Menezes (fiction feature film, Brazil); ‘Brando’ by Alazne González (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘Karma’ by Armando del Rio (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘Messenger in the night’ by Lucía González-Barandiarán and Juan José Torres Negreira (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘The father of us all’ by Azahara Moyano (fiction feature film, Spain); ‘The Bail’ by Mateo Bettinger and William De Marsangy (fiction feature film, Spain) and ‘After History’ by Sabrina Bogado (documentary feature film, Brazil).

PLATINO go to AFM 2024 will be held in Los Angeles from November 1 to 6 and in Las Vegas, November 7 to 9. The training will allow those selected to present their projects to buyers, investors, co-producers and distributors in the North American market, as well as participate in the American Film Market.

The program focuses on the fabric of how Hollywood workshighlighting the areas of production and distribution, and includes points such as the figure of the manager in the US market, the strategies of representation and talent agencies, the work of literary agents, distribution, marketing and public relations for products and Latin audiences in the USA, working with independent production companies or working with large studios.

PLATINUM go to AFM also includes practical workshopssuch as the study of real financing cases, visits to a large studiotraining sessions for the pitch that those selected will be able to do at the AFM, advice personalized to prepare this pitch, or the analysis of data companies and how to use them in pitching and negotiations.

Participation in PLATINO go to AFM is done in-person and full-time, and applicants must have solid knowledge of English. Only Spanish or Latin American production companies that prove total or partial ownership of at least one work of fiction, documentary or animation can register for the program.
