Elisa (played by Vittoria Puccini) is only forty when she discovers she has terminal cancer. The woman is waiting for her and, after the unexpected tragic news of her, the first thought of her goes to her little creature, aware of not being able to be next to her during her growth. Before her painful goodbye, Elisa thinks of a way to be able to be close to her at least spiritually. The woman buys a gift for each birthday of her daughter Anna (Benedetta Porcaroli), up to her age. Among these, in addition to dolls, games and clothes, there is also a globe with an indication of the places he would have liked to visit with her.
18 gifts: the plot of the film with Vittoria Puccini
The day of her eighteenth birthday arrives: Anna, who experiences those gifts as a sort of heavy inheritance, runs away from the party organized by her father Alessio (Edoardo Leo) and, during the night, is hit by a car. When she wakes up, she finds herself face to face with her deceased mother …
18 gifts it was released in theaters in January 2020 and soon after was distributed worldwide by Netflix; the cast is directed by Francesco Amato (who also took part in the touching screenplay together with Massimo Gaudioso and Davide Lantieri, with the special collaboration of Alessio Vincenzotto, the husband of the real protagonist).
A note of merit to the performance of Vittoria Puccini, moving in the role of this courageous mother, and also to the young Benedetta Porcaroli, perfect in the role of a disappointed and angry teenager with life. In short, the two actresses together form a convincing duo that pierces the screen and moves, reaching straight to the hearts of the viewers. So, get your handkerchiefs in good time: you will definitely need them!
