17th Al Dhafra Festival: Cooking and Sour Milk Competitions in Full Swing

Competitions continue in the popular cooking and sour milk competitions in the Al Dhafra Heritage Market as part of the activities of the 17th session of the Al Dhafra Festival, which is organized in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, and concludes tomorrow. The popular cooking competition was characterized by competition and craftsmanship in preparing the most prominent Emirati foods, and received popular interest in following up on traditional activities. The competition witnessed the participation of 170 contestants who competed in preparing a group of diverse popular dishes.

The “Sour Milk” competition, which is held as part of the festival’s activities, also continues, with the aim of reviving the heritage of fathers and grandfathers, as the process of converting milk into sour milk or curd so that it does not spoil and lasts longer than the old traditional methods of preserving local production of milk.

The competition, for which the organizing committee of the festival allocated 100 prizes, received the participation of 232 contestants over the past days, and witnessed strong competition among the participants in preparing sour yoghurt with distinctive and varied flavours.
